Jacket Project based on Arca and Male Form

EXPLORATION - PRIMARY RESEARCH

Secondary Research

I first began to look into Deconstruction through the sources on our bibliography from our Brief. I then extended this secondary research to explore designers I was passionate about that had elements of deconstructed garments in their shows or showed exploration of the Male physical body and how it can be portrayed in it's most sexual masculine form. I had pictures of Carol Christian Poell and Helmut Lang's shows stuck on my wall at the time of getting this project and it made me want to deconstruct my Jacket in order to highlight sensual, stimulating, impassioned parts of the male body, the aim for my deconstruction was for an exploration of the ultimate masculine form.

The First Deconstruction of my Jacket was to remove half of the back as I wanted to open up a large amount of Negative Space so it would affect the intricacy of the rest of the ideas on the Jacket and immediatly create a sexual aspect to the Jacket. This was my first Aim and I developed it from here.

RESEARCH - Analysing Deconstruction

I'm not as Keen on the Collar on the left image or how protruding the structure is on the right Image either. This has made me want to take down the collar and having it exxgarated in the opposite direction. I would rather manipluate my deonctsruction to have the body as an abstract form in itself.

I love the Look on the Right image due to the Layering which is Similar to our Group Exploration pieces, Jackets laid down ontop of other jackets at different angles, the angles of other collars used against already existing garments. From analsying the right look I would like to incorporate one of the Shoulders on my Jacket to hang off or come off the back position of the Shoulder.

The White material is manipluated and sewn around the Garment and cut away and sewn at Different parts,

I want to explore this with one or both of my sleeves at how I can cut away and change angles of fabric to collage it
